Opened in January 2005,
Loyola University’s Emerging Technologies Laboratory was created to
provide a place and equipment where both faculty and students can
engage in cutting-edge research relevant to the Computer Science field.
Some of the equipment we have on the lab is:
- desktop compuers running Linux (and selected OSs)
- 16-node cluster
- Dell PowerEdge 1950 server farm and 10 TB Direct Attached Storage (DAS)
- Low-end computing cluster for volunteer computing and BOINC
We also have a growing number of experimental platforms, including
- PlayStation/3 for Cell/GPU explorations

The ETL also maintains its own Coffee Center utilizing the Nespresso pod system.
